Fitz will take the reins and lead Seattle’s KPNW back to country music
Seattle, WA – The listeners have spoken and KPNW-FM in Seattle has listened, 98.9 The Bull will return to playing the country music that Seattle loves. Fitz, currently host of the nationally syndicated Country Top 40 with Fitz, will host morning drive and lead the charge in returning the radio station back to its country music roots.
Fitz is passionate about country music and he knows Seattle. In addition to hosting the Country Top 40 with Fitz distributed by Skyview Networks in over 240 markets nationwide, Fitz hosted mornings in Seattle on 100.7 The Wolf from 2005-2017 and 98.9 The Bull from 2019-2021.
Commented Fitz, “The PNW is so very special to me. It is home to the greatest country fans in the world. I have grown with them over the years and they are like family. I’m so excited that country is back on 98.9. Saddle up!”
“No, it’s not an April fool’s joke, 98.9 The Bull is back,” commented Hubbard Seattle Operations Manager Scott Mahalick. “With Fitz at the helm, we are excited to bring back the music that Seattle loves. We believe that this change will not only resonate with our loyal listeners but also reignite the passion and energy that country music brings to the Pacific Northwest.”
The KPNW call letters will remain, reflecting Hubbard’s commitment to provide a country station that is unique to the Pacific Northwest. The radio station will be positioned as: 98.9 The Bull—Country for the PNW.
“We understand the disappointment that our listeners felt when we made the switch from 98.9 The Bull to adult alternative,” commented Hubbard Seattle VP/Market Manager Trip Reeb. “We want to make things right so we are bringing in Fitz, a long-time advocate for country music. He understands the deep connection our audience has with country radio.”
The switch to 98.9 The Bull will take place on April 1, 2024.
