WTOP Honored with Five 1st Place Awards including Best in Show by Chesapeake AP Broadcasters Association

Washington D.C. – WTOP took home five first place Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association (CAPBA) Awards this weekend, including Outstanding Website for WTOP.com and the Best in Show Award for “Key Bridge Collapse” in the Outstanding Spot News Reporting category.

“Our goal every day is to serve those who live in this region by delivering to them the stories that impact their lives,” said Julie Ziegler, WTOP’s Director of News and Programming. “The newsroom pushes hard to produce content for our audio, web and social platforms that informs and engages our audience. It is an honor to be recognized for this work.”

  • Outstanding Spot News Reporting & Best in Show: “Key Bridge Collapse”

  • Best Reporter: Matt Kaufax
  • Outstanding Light Feature: Matt Kaufax, “Mullet Madness”

Winners were announced at a recognition ceremony over the weekend.

The Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association is comprised of television and radio professionals from across the region.
